About Lanark
Picturesquely situated on the banks of the Clyde River, the village of Lanark is home to about 800 residents. It is located in the heart of Maple Syrup Country and just fifteen km from the town of Perth. Lanark has a modern Health Care Center staffed by doctors and dedicated support personnel. Doctors and their patients have access and admission to the hospital in Perth. There is also a well-stocked pharmacy in the centre of the village.
There are two golf courses close by - Timber Run on the edge of Lanark and Blue Heron, a five minute drive away. Timber Run encompasses 130 acres with rolling fairways and has a beautiful log clubhouse which is regularly used to host wedding receptions and other large functions.

In mid June, 10,000 showy lady slippers burst into bloom in the Purdon Conservation Area, giving rise to the Lanark Highlands Orchid Festival and Tour. This is an annual festivity which brings hundreds of tourists to the area (www.lanarkhighlands.ca).
Pretty Goods Groceries is a busy spot in the centre of the village. The current proprietors kept the name even though the Pretty family no longer operates the store.
